- The unique agreement will help strengthen job training, education and career paths for military members transitioning out of the service

San Antonio, TX – (Highpoint Digest) — The City of San Antonio, known as Military City USA, in conjunction with San Antonio Ready to Work (RTW), Workforce Solutions Alamo (WSA) and Joint Base San Antonio 502d Air Base Wing, entered into a unique agreement on May 20, 2024 to strengthen workforce development initiatives for military-connected residents of Bexar County, and their spouses, as they transition away from military service to the civilian world.
“I’m excited to be here today to celebrate the partnership between Joint Base San Antonio, Workforce Solutions Alamo and Ready to Work,” said Brian Hoffman, Vice Director of Joint Base San Antonio and 502nd Air Base Wing. “As soon as we heard about this program from the greater San Antonio Chamber, we instantly latched with our transition workforce, led by our 502 Force Support Group and Executive Director, Ms. De Los Santos, and sought to combine our forces to seamlessly transition military members. Thanks to this partnership, we can ensure our military service members, their spouses and their working-age children have access to education and training support as they transition out of military life and into civilian life.”
The Memorandum of Understanding will engage WSA, which represents taxpayers in a 13-county region that includes Bexar County and San Antonio, to manage program participants with job placement services, job search resources, and resume, job application and career development assistance.

WSA is already a partner of RTW, serving as one of the program’s prime partners. Now, their combined resources will positively impact even more people in the community with better-quality, higher-paying jobs.
“As Military City USA, we are committed to the people of San Antonio, as well as our military-connected residents of Bexar County, their spouses and dependents,” said Mike Ramsey, executive director of the City of San Antonio’s Workforce Development Office, which oversees the Ready to Work program. “As a veteran, I understand the importance of helping members of the military transition into meaningful work after their duty to our country has ended.”
Last May, the City adjusted eligibility requirements to allow military connected residents of Bexar County to be able to participate in the Ready to Work program and has since established a new Military Pilot Program so that these entities can work closely together in this common goal.
WSA, JBSA 502 ABW and the City will meet regularly to foster communication and implement strategies to enhance the mission of the Pilot program. Each will be responsible for monitoring and reporting progress of the Pilot.
